Wednesday, Sept. 4 - Reading Comprehension
Objective: By the end of this lesson, you will have learned how to use strategies to increase your reading comprehension.
There are a number of strategies you can use to improve reading comprehension. Remember, the more you read, the faster you will get and the more you will retain. Reading every day is important.
A quick survey of the material can be helpful. This can give you an idea of what to expect. If you have questions that accompany to the text, take a look at those before you start reading. It helps to know what questions you want to answer, so you can look for the answers as you are reading.
Also, think about the mechanics of reading: Don't spend so much time deciphering words that you lose the meaning of the words. Take the words in chunks to help you understand and read faster.
Instead of a written assignment, read the article I have attached and watch the videos -- get ready to do some reading.
