Wednesday, Jan. 21 - Mean, Median and Mode

Mean, Median and Mode are ways of grouping data.

  1. The mean is the average of a data set.
  2. The mode is the most common number in a data set.
  3. The median is the middle of the set of numbers.

If you had 4 numbers: 1, 2, 2, 3

So for mean, you would add them up 1+2+2+3= 8 and divide by the amount of numbers you have. 8/4=2

For the mode, you would simply choose the number that shows up most frequently - 2

For the median, you would choose the middle number in the set - 2

However, in many sets of numbers, for each statistic, you would get a different answer.
